When I think of Detroit it’s imbued with sepia-toned photos, book titles like Childhood’s End, discarded objects reawakened as guardians of the city, maps with the old names; Cass Corridor, Emily’s Across the Street and Tiger Stadium. Paper routes and hopscotch and walking to school with our books wrapped in grocery bags.

At first the focus of Detroit Stories was on promoting my book, "Detroit Fairy Tales." But now, those stories are just a part of what I aim to remember, preserve, and celebrate.
